Samsung KS9000 Ultra HD 4K TV is a highly acclaimed piece of home entertainment technology.

Samsung has launched its next generation SUHD 4K Ultra HD smart TVs following the release of its thoroughly reinvented 4K TVs in 2015. The KS9000, is the second tier SUHD TV for this year and is highly acclaimed piece of home entertainment technology.

KS9000 has several features and specs that are quite similar with 2015 SUHD JS9000. However, there are major enhancements, which makes KS9000 a far superior 4K UHS TV in its display quality featuring all new heights of peak brightness and contrast performance. It also upped the ante on high dynamic range and colour technology. These features alone makes KS9000 one of the best non-OLED TV models for this year.

KS9000’s features high quality black levels, contrast, and colour saturation are designed to conform to the standards for Ultra HD premium from the UHD alliance. Its contrast and sharpness are further enhanced by Samsung’s Ultra Clear Panel technology and strong LED qualities. The TV also augments brightness and vividness in SDR video sources for improved contract levels.

Samsung Tizen smart TV OS works well with KS9000, which is arguably the second best smart TV platform available in the market today next to LG’s WebOS smart interfaces. Usability and access to smart TV apps are both superb as well.

On the other hand, KS9000, just like its 2015 SUHD cousins, suffers from side-angle viewing problems. Although it’s a minor flaw, improvements can be done to handle angles better. Due to wide off-centre angles, colour saturation and contrast both suffer in the process. KS9000 also has a long way to match OLED technology in the quality of its blacks. Also, its special picture enhancing technologies tend to oversaturate images and create oddly unnatural visual effects.

Perhaps, one of the biggest flaws of this TV is that it does not have any sort of 3D support, neither active nor passive.

In general, the 2016 SUHD TV is great but if you already own JS9000 from 2015, there’s no need to change it up for this newer version just yet as the two TVs are remarkably the same in most ways.
